I started this completely random scrap quilt this spring (summer?). I stopped working on it at some point believing that I didn't have enough even for a throw. Tonight I moved all the dining room furniture to pin it up (randomly) to look at it and it's much bigger than I thought. This is about 6' square. I have many more bits I can add to it. Now I have to puzzle out how to join it all together. I will have to give this chaos some order and make strips to join for the final quilt. It makes me a little sad. I'm enjoying the randomness and chaos. #scrapvortex #scrapvortexquilt #rosekimknits

Another handspun #singleskeinseptember2018 hat fresh of the needles! This is You Betcha!, free on Ravelry. The yarn is one ply of all my random earth-toned odds and ends that I carded together and spun loosely and the other ply is some kind of wool that had been sitting on a bobbin for the better part of a decade. #rosekimknits

My first finished handspun hat for #singleskeinseptember2018 has some *cough* issues. The brim flares badly and I will probably rip it out and reknit it more tightly. The hat is very short because I was running low on yarn (this seems to happen with all my handspun projects). Then I did run out of yarn and used another random bit of handspun I had hanging around. Not the best start. #rosekimknits

I had to make a last-minute two-night to NY this week. I decided to bring my Baltic Summer by @strickmich. I started it at Madrona in February and haven't touched it since. I really only worked on it on the plane but I'm one third of the way through it. The yarn is STR that I dyed myself at the @bluemoonfiberarts dye day last summer. I love this skein and am constantly watching the colors mingle and change. #rosekimknits

I'm teaching a class at the @seattleknittersguild next week on stashbusting and my Helix hat. I cast one on to demo in class. Then I couldn't stop knitting it. So now I have to cast on another one and *not* knit it. Wish me luck. #rosekimknits #helixstripes4eva #helixstripes #stashbusting

Knitting local. This is Speckles! yarn dyed by @localcolorfiberstudio and spun by @abundantearthfiber sitting on my @hansencraftsminispinner yarn ball holder. The yarn is amazing. Soft, great stitch definition, round and bouncy. The yarn holder is also wonderful. Beautifully designed and effortless to spin. #rosekimknits

Way back in 2013 there was a mystery knitalong for a stuffed animal. I’m not much for mystery-alongs but it only called for 100 yards of worsted weight yarn so I thought, “Why not?” I got out an old, old, OLD skein of Rowan All Seasons Cotton in gray because lots of animals are gray and the materials list didn’t give any guidance on color. I knit along and then we got to the final clue and I found out our “animal” was a gingerbread man! I had knit a slate gray gingerbread man. I set it aside for a very long long time. Years later I decided to finish it off as a mouse. I added ears and a tail. Then I needed to embroider the face. I hate doing this because I am really bad at it. Like, comically bad. But today I decided “Why not?” and just finished the damn thing. So here is my wonky-faced mouse, four and a half years in the making. #rosekimknits

Yesterday I got a spinning idea I had to do that instant. I spun up some fuchsia Romney that was literally the first fiber I ever bought online (which lead to me not ordering fiber online again). I carded it a week ago and then I spun it wooolen to make it as soft and puffy as I could. Then I plied it with since Cotswold lamb singles that I dyed, combed and spun years ago. This photo doesn't show the true colors and is before washing. It feels good to use up old stuff! #rosekimknits #spin15aday #spin15aday2018 #spin15aday2018challenge
