It bugs me the way most of the waistband on every single one of those skirts is covered, either by clothing or by hands that seem more employed than relaxed. I'd never wear one, but I can see my daughters in a couple of those! I have an ottoman that needs a new cover (thanks to a dog who shall remain nameless) -- wonder how that knitted cover would hold up!
Some of the accessories I would knit, but I can find the patterns elsewhere that I can modify to match these. I knew there was a reason that I have not bought a Vogue Knitting in several years.
The buttoned gloves would be nice if they didn't have that...stuff... hanging out of them. The rest looks like the company stopped heating the office and the editors got cold: all those wearable blankets for the office.
I like the accessories in Soft Sculpture. Don't care for the blanket sweaters but what really made me go "WTF?" were the turban-ish things in Vintage Chic.
I've worked in a few offices where those blanket sweaters would have been perfect! But no, this issue looks like a disappointment. I liked the photostyling of the skirts, but really, can a handknit skirt be trusted not to bag and stretch out to the point of resembling a hammock? These don't even seem to have any attempt at a functional waistband either, so they're pretty much blanket garments too. Oh, well - perhaps the accessories will look better on further examination. -- Gretchen
Hooray! Confirmation that letting my subscription go is a good idea. I can't remember the last time they had a pattern of interest. Maybe they are knitting for aliens?
Umm...the red rectangular poncho screams water bottle cozy! Like the long socks, the Missoni style skirt, hats, and the pillows look snuggly!

ReplyDeleteBlankets with sleeves, the prodrome for baggy sweaters over leggings. Yup: the pre-80's are coming. Run for your lives.
ReplyDeleteThe lily-of-the-valley mittens are beautiful. They'd never fit in my coat-sleeves, but they're pretty for wearing indoors. (wait, what?)
