I'm six (straight) days into my new job (Operations Lead at Sephora U Village). I'm a little overloaded right now. Everything is new. I'm learning, learning, learning every day and moving, moving, moving. The pace is ridiculously brisk. It's like it's the busiest day of the year at my old job, but every day. Currently I'm a little overwhelmed by it all, totally exhausted and really loving it.
I'm also adjusting to a totally new schedule. I have lots to do each day before the store opens so I work each day starting at six or seven in the morning. Last night I planned on going to bed at 9:45 but ended up going to sleep even earlier!
I've barely touched my knitting. I ended up ripping out several rows from my Pebble Beach shawl sometime this past week and am still in negative-knitting territory. I'm headed to Purlygirls tonight and hopefully won't fall asleep while I'm there.

Shaking My Head
Wes broke a sconce in our bedroom a few years ago. He finally decided to locate a replacement for it so he took down a second, matching sconce to bring to the lighting store. Then dropped it on the floor.

Another List of Stuff
- Thank you for all the anniversary wishes. Wes and I celebrated on Saturday by having a delicious dinner at the always fabulous Dahlia Lounge. Dahlia never fails. Tom Douglas just opened a new restaurant by Pike Place Market called Seatown Snack Bar that has take away and dine in.
- Then we went to see Ira Glass at Benaroya Hall. If you don't listen to This American Life, you should. It is an hour of radio (or podcast) that is guaranteed to make you laugh, cry and think. Sometimes all at once.
- I took my older son with some of his friends to see Scott Pilgrim. Again. I really enjoyed it the second time two.
- Audrey in Unst is getting to look like a sweater.
- Based on your enthusiasm, I bought the dress from last week. I was going to wear it out last night but as I was getting ready to go--thankfully, before I cut off the tags--I noticed that there was something wrong with the sleeve lining that made it hang down below the hem. I'll have to return it. Too bad. I got it at Macy's. You can get one for yourself if you're interested.

Sweet Sixteen
Wes and I got married on this day sixteen years ago. I don't have a cute photo to show of us, mere children, dressed for the special day because I've been married since before the invention of digital photography.
Wes grabbed this Twitter conversation from yesterday for his blog.
rosekimknits: Hey @weskimcom, Nordstrom is playing our wedding song. :)
weskimcom: @rosekimknits Boom, Boom (Let's Go Back To My Room)
?
rosekimknits: @weskimcom Ah, the memories.
(Note: He's just kidding. Our wedding song was Fly Me To The Moon
.)

Checking In
I've been meaning to post all weekend but I haven't been feeling too great and have just been laying low. I finished Ulmus and it is blocking. It came out pretty small. I used all of my second color though so I couldn't have made it any bigger. It's very pretty though. I'll try to get some photos up tomorrow.
Thank you all so much for all the kindness and support you have shown this past week. Wes's mom is in rehab now and is doing better but still has a very long way to go in her recovery. Wes's brothers have been in town for most of the week helping out but starting on Wednesday it's all on Wes until Christmas. Fortunately the boys and I are faring well on our own.

Weekend Whirlwind
This weekend is scheduled practically down to the minute.
Friday night was spinning at the shop. I finished spinning singles from the "Batt of Beast" I've been working on on and off (mostly off) for nearly a year and a half. I think that's some sort of record for 2 oz. of fiber! I still need to ply.
Saturday we hosted a party at a local park. Older son is graduating from elementary school. He wanted to have one last hurrah with his gang of friends before the summer. A few friends won't be going to the same middle school so it's a bit of a goodbye too. He invited all his friends to come to the park for games and a potluck lunch. Ten 11 year old boys eat SO MUCH FOOD. There was a pizza, two plates of pot stickers, veggie wraps, crackers, cheese, meats, quesadillas, brownies, cupcakes, strawberries, grapes, watermelon. And there was not much left when it was all done. Older son wanted to bring something special so we made the Fruit Pizza from Clare Crespo's Secret Life of Food. It's the same book that the sushi cupcakes came from. I only have Wes's cameraphone picture of it. It's just a big shortbread cookie with a sweetened cream cheese mixture on top with strawberry jam around the edges, then sprinkled with fruit. It's really tasty, a bit like cheesecake but with a crisp, cookie crust.
After the party ended we hurried home to get ready for a friend's wedding. It was at the Olympic Sculpture Park. It's the perfect venue for a wedding. The space is gorgeous with a fantastic view, the catering was very good and the staff was very nice.
Now today we have Older son's cello lesson, then a simultaneous birthday party (Older son's classmate) and baby shower (knitting friend of mine) and then we all head to the Seattle Storm game with a group from Wes's work! I think I'm going to have a very hard time getting out of bed tomorrow.
I did finish the back of Georgie on Friday. I cast on for the fronts but have only gotten in a few rows of rib so far.
