What's Your Number?

Here's a fun Ravelry tip. You can find out your Ravelry number (when you joined Ravelry's  4,213,343 users) using the Konami code. Here's how.

1) Go to your "about me" page.

2) Use the Konami code BA (on my PC I do this by holding the Ctrl key and using the arrow buttons).

3) The screen goes blue.

4) Your number appears under your "Raveler since" date.

Pretty fun trick, eh?

Experiment in Automation

I'm trying out IFTTT (If This Then That). The idea is that it allows you to link up various online profiles and wifi-enabled devices and run simple scripts (they call them "recipes"). So I've set one up that allows me to automatically post an Instagram photo to my blog if I use a particular tag. My internet life is fairly separate. I post things to Instagram which I sometimes share on Facebook and Twitter. I post to Facebook. I post to Twitter. I post to my blog. I'm all over the place! I don't want to endless duplicate posts from one media stream to another but there's only so much time in the day, right? There are also recipes for my Fitbit. I now get a text message at 10:30 pm if I haven't hit my step goal for the day. I don't think I'll be using the recipe that sends a text message to go get coffee when you don't get enough sleep though.

Hopefully this cyber-integration will allow me to post more often. Hope you like it.

Have You Tried...

hulu.com? It offers free, streaming video of television shows and movies. The mix is, er, interesting. The picture quality is fantastic with little to no buffering time. There are short commercials but it's not too bad. I've been watching New Amsterdam and The Tick. Spoooooon!

I'm also loving Jott! I am an extremely forgetful person. Extremely. Writing myself little notes is useless since I never look at the notes I write. Recording voice messages has also proven useless since I don't listen to them. Jott allows me to make a voice recording that is transcribed and sent to me via email or text. You can also send messages to other people, Twitter, iwantsandy, you can even blog with it. Pretty freaking cool. The voice recognition is top-notch provided your are someplace quiet. If there is a lot of background noise it's not as accurate. But if you don't understand the transcription you can listen to the original recording online.

Happy Birthday to Me!

I was very bored marching on the treadmill at the gym today. I decided I need an mp3 player despite how evil they are. Fortunately this Creative Zen MP3 player is priced to be disposable. I needed a little something for my birthday.

Stumbling Blindly Into the 21st Century

What the hell. I'll give this thing a try.

Help Me, I'm Old

Okay, someone explain this whole Twitter thing to me. I don't get it.

Please avoid excessive acronyms which I won't understand.
