Brickless

Pattern: Brickless by Martina Behm
Yarn: 2 skeins Hazel Knits Lively DK in Jam Session
Needles: US6 HiyaHiya steel circular
Notes: This is a great, easy pattern that walks the line between mindless and interesting perfectly. I added one or two repeats in an effort to use up all my yarn then continued on the net mesh pattern until I couldn't stand it any more. My scarf is so long!

Thursday Is for What the Hell Is This?

Here's a little something for your Thursday that's equal parts timely and terrifying. You have most likely heard about the recent biting incident that occurred at the World Cup. Uruguayan player Luis Suárez got himself into quite a lot of trouble by biting an opposing player on the Italian team. FIFA has spelled out their punishment for him but a clever crocheter came up with a yarny option too.

The Suárez Mask is available as a free download on Ravelry. Enjoy. And remember, no biting!

Alpaca Colour Stripes Cowl

Pattern: Alpaca Colour Stripes Cowl by me
Yarn: Rowan Alpaca Colour, 1 skein each 135 and 138
Needle: US 7
Notes: I have probably been working on this cowl since last fall. It's a shop project and just never have time to sit and knit at work. It's a very simple striped tube in two shades of alpaca that have subtle monochromatic color shifting. The ends of the tube are grafted together. I've written up the pattern and it's available for free at the Fiber Gallery (in-store only at the moment).

Imperial Stock Ranch Comes to US

I'm really excited because this weekend we're having a great special event at the shop. We will be hosting a trunk show, yarn tasting and a talk by Jeanne Carver of Imperial Stock Ranch. Jeanne is an amazing person who is really passionate about her work. If you're free I'd highly recommend coming to hear her talk at 2 on Saturday.
