Thursday Is for What the Hell Is This?

It's always a bad sign when an image makes me search my Thursday archive for the word "intestine" to see if I've posted it before. I haven't. And, yeah, intestine.

Mondo Cable Cardi by Bonne Marie Burns in Dream in Color Classy. This sweater is an absolute workhorse. I wear it all the time. It goes with everything. It's simple, flattering and easy to knit.

Plum Perfect from Knit, Swirl! knit in Malabrigo Worsted. Very warm and snuggly but not enough to stand up to the pouring rain this morning!

Thursday Is for What the Hell Is This?

Excuse me, you've got something on your face.

Um...never mind. It's cool.

The Garter Yoke Cardigan (heavily modified) made with handspun, hand-dyed Shetland in the yoke. Casual and comfortable.

I've lost a good bit of weight since I knit this. It's very loose on me now. Look at all this extra fabric.

This week's theme: Everything but the kitchen sink.

Think of it as "Hipster on Laundry Day."

Or just strait-up mentally ill.

Nine Years!

Nine years ago today I started this blog. Nine. Years. I can't even believe I've been at it this long. Between work and life and Ravelry and other social media, I don't spend as much time here as I intend to or should. Thank you all so much for stopping by, reading and commenting for nine years. It's brought me a lot of happiness.

No Repeat December Day 9

I knew this one was not really seasonally-appropriate but didn't realize how silly it looked with this shirt until I had Older Son take my picture. I do match the neighbor's siding quite nicely though. This is Diminishing Ribs. I don't love it. The fronts curl badly and the yarn sheds like nobody's business!

Metro by Connie Chang Chinchio. Sadly, this one has gotten a bit too big for me. I think I need to rip it out and reuse the yarn.

Thursday Is For What the Hell Is This?

Today, S.Charles Collezione posted a photo on their Facebook page.

Now...I've got to give them the benefit of the doubt that they didn't understand that "Thick Knit," the knitter who created this, er, garment, is a fetish knitter. I've posted a few fetish things before but I try not to get into it too much because, frankly, that which has been seen cannot be unseen, if you know what I mean. I try not to Google fetishes as a general rule.

So a few things I can't understand. How could a business post this on their Facebook page? Why isn't that center panel cabled? And why couldn't he move that bottle of Windex before snapping the picture?

So long as we're talking about sexysexysexy bulky knits I want to gripe about this one too.

If you go to the Craftsy page where the pattern is being sold for a staggering $12.50. You will see that it's a knock off of another designer's work and they even posted a picture of the copied design. You will also learn that the pattern is "LEFT-HANDED PATTERN!!!! Right handed knitters must reverse the cabling in order to achieve the look...This pattern is a size small. Look for more sizes in my Craftsy Pattern Store in the future." So the pattern is a copy, it's written backwards and it only comes in one size and I can purchase more sizes in the future? Where do I send my money?!

Fulling Makes Flop Fab

Last week I cast on a plain stockinette, roll-brim hat in some very ancient Shetland DK to knit during a viewing of Argo.* I cast on 100-something stitches on who-knows-what needle and just knit for a long time. Then decreased for the crown and finished it off. I had Wes try it on and while it technically fit him it was loose, floppy, scratchy and not terribly warm. So Saturday I put it in a lingerie bag and threw it in the wash with a load of jeans and then ran it in the dryer for 20-30 minutes to boot. It emerged fluffy, soft, dense and a good size for an adult. Like me.

I put it on to take a photo but wore it all day. It's lovely. I have a big bag of more of the same yarn. I can make a whole pile of these.

*It was excellent, by the way. Very well done with an authentic feel, loads of tension and some much-needed humor.

No Repeat December Day 2

This Poppy was knit in 2007 out of many, many oddballs of Rowan Kid Classic. There is single crochet along the neckline and bottom edge. The bottom edge was worked a bit too snugly and I believe when I finished the sweater it was too snug on me overall and I never wore it. Until today! I've probably lost a bit of weight since then or like my sweaters slimmer. It's also a very warm sweater. I'll never be able to wear it to work because I'd have to pull it off and on all day long.

No Repeat December Day 1

I was in a huge rush this morning and grabbed the first sweater on the top of the pile. It's Tailored Scallops by Pam Allen from Lace Style.

The yarn is handspun, hand-dyed Cormo/Silk. I finished this one in 2008 and don't wear it often because a)  it's very warm and b) I've never been happy with the fit in the shoulders.

Anyone else joining in?

Thursday Is for What the Hell Is This?

You guys! The universe loves me. I wasn't sure what to post this week then Yoko Ono introduced a men's clothing line. If you close your eyes and imagine a the craziest parody of what a Yoko-designed men's clothing line looks like I guarantee that it will not hold a candle to actual crazy that she came up with. Light up boobie! Giant crotch hand prints! "Butt" cartoons! It's all there.

Here are butt (see what I did there?) a few images.
