Now, I know you've all been dying to discuss this.

I think we can all agree that there is a potentially cool way to incorporate the Union Jack into a sweater design. In fact a quick peek on Google shows me several options. (Though for whatever reason many of them are for dogs and one is a thong. Shrug.) I think the essential issue is simple math. A sweater that is more than twice as wide as it is long than it will not be cute on anyone. And how long do you think those sleeves are? They must be about 4" which, I'm guessing, is why you can't see them in the photos. It would be much faster and simple to paint a flag on a shipping box and just wear that.

Personally, Union Jack clothing always looks really tacky to me. It also reminds me of football hooligans.
Actually, I think almost all flag based clothing is tacky, although I do have a pair of socks with Y Ddraig Goch (Welsh flag) on them.
There are a few items in that section of the upcoming Vogue Knits that are NOT spectacular. This is probably one of the worst offenders. Anytime a sweater can double as a blanket or refrigerator cozy, not a good idea.
If it was an American Flag, Sarah Palin could have modeled it with a hunting rifle in hand.
In comparison, this one isn't so bad.
not to mention, hip skirt.
It reminds me of that movie, "Crazy People" I think it was, where they came up with the advertising slogan "Volvo. It's boxy, but it's good."
