Knitscene Preview

It's up. I'm excited that Knitscene will now be a quarterly. Make sure to click on the bonus photo links because the thumbnails really don't do the designs justice. I see a lot of cute knits here despite the use of colors that make me heave.

While I agree that there are some nice knits is there, Knitscene always leaves me with a lot of questions -- mostly about the styling choices. This time it's, "French Creek Skirt, huh!?" It looks like a knitted beach cover up but it's not styled that way.

I agree about the french creek skirt. i was thinking those towel wraps that men wear. The rest is pretty nice though. i love the first light blue sweater!

My favorites are the Amy Christoffers designs. I'm unfamiliar with her, so will be looking up her other work on Ravelry.

This is the second knitscene in a row that I will buy and I rarely buy magazines anymore. I agree the styling is odd sometimes but the designs are not the same old things that I'm seeing repeated in some of the other magazines. Love the penumbra tee.

I kind of like the skirt ... but I wouldn't knit it in Baby-poo green yarn.

The styling that made me go "WTF?" was putting that Windsor Cardi (which I love, BTW) over a drop-waist dress. Particularly in the left-most bonus photo, the combo makes the model look like she has the longest torso known to humanity.

I agree about the designs in the mag, though--lots of cute stuff there, and I would use completely different colors, across the board.

P.S. I also love that the first collections are named for places in Vermont and the NE. :-D

Again, I like the Knitscene collection way more than the IK collection. Which leads me to think that Lisa Shoyer is taking Knitscene in the direction IK should have gone.

Hmmm....am wondering if they will ever do ONE issue without that pukey yellow and bland peach. They must have bought yarn in those colors in bulk.
