The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

I got all my eBay stuff tonight.

Some is good. There is Rowanspun Aran in a pretty blue.

It came with a cute sew on Rowan label.

Some is bad. My drum carder's foot broke off in shipment.

And some is ugly. My drum carder's whole side is cracked.

I'm going to go cry now.

Ruffled Gloves

Pattern: Ruffled Gloves from Loop-d-Loop
Yarn: Plymouth Baby Alpaca DK
Needles: US3 Addi Turbos
Modifications: I knit the shorter cuff variation. I knit the first glove as written but didn't like trying to clean up the gaping holes between the fingers. On the second glove I picked up stitches between the fingers instead of casting on.

The Morning After

It looks like everything in my purse survived. Thanks for all the concern. I managed to knit several fingers on my glove last night in the right locations with the right number of stitches.
I'm off to work soon. Have a happy Sunday.

Bad Juju

My luck appears to have run out. After last night's adventure in knitting upside down (still can't believe I did that) things have not improved dramatically.

Exhibit A: I somehow punctured a can of Fresca in my purse. I didn't notice until it had completely drained. In my purse. With my iPod nano. And two PDAs. And my cell phone. And my nice Coach wallet.

Exhibit B: I start knitting the index finger to my second Ruffled Glove. On the wrong side of the glove.

Exhibit C: I start knitting the index finger to my second Ruffled Glove again. On the wrong number of stitches.

Is there some sort of cleansing ritual I need to go through?

You Have Got to Be Kidding

I was plugging away on Amble in my office watching season two of "The L Word" on my computer. There was something funky going on with the sound synch so I scooped up my knitting, tea and DVD and went upstairs. After working for about an hour I looked at the bottom of my chart and realized that I was reading it upside down! For crying out loud.

Continuing Confessions of a Knitalong Whore

Someone find me a twelve-step program for knitalongs. I can't say no.

I've completed four of the eight patterns so far. I'm about to finish the fifth.

I want to make a tea cozy from a felted sweater. Haven't gotten around to it.

Yellow Jack is gathering dust on my night stand.

I'm thinking this may not ever happen.

I finished my Conwy socks for October. I'm about to finish my September project, Amble. My November project is the Ruffled Gloves.

Friday Harbor and Conwy socks are done. The next sock will be announced in December.

I've got my yarn but I don't know if I'll actually knit it.

The first project is the Leaf Lace Shawl which I have been meaning to knit for over a year. I think I'll be knitting it in Fairy Hare. When I get to it.

Folk Socks Knitalong
The first sock is the Latvian sock. I'm going to try it in the Twinkle Toes I tried to use for the Go With the Flow socks.

Just barely started this with Zephyr in Pewter. I'm trying to think of this as a life-long project. I'll finish it one day but no pressure.

Vintage Socks Knitalong
The first sock is the Child's Shell Sock. I don't have yarn or the book yet and have no clue when I'll start.

I still haven't picked out my yarn.

I'm also thinking of starting a knitalong for Handknit Holidays. I love it.

Reporting In

I'm getting hardcore. Amble 2 and Ruffled Glove 2 need to get done and get the hell out of here. The glove is just past the thumb and Amble 2 is just past the heel. Expect finished projects soon.

And I'd like to offer this proof that the poncho is so completely, totally, wholly over.

What Big Eyes You Have

I was on the treadmill at the gym yesterday when a commercial came on for Disney's Nemo on Ice. I felt such a wave of sympathy for the performers in this show. Maybe they could have rethought the placement of the eyes on the costume?

Thursdays are For What the Hell is This?

You say "po-tay-to," I say "po-tah-to." You say "Gedifra Sampler Sweater," say "the nexus of all that is evil in the universe."

One Glove

The pinky needs to be redone. It's about two rows too long and too tight.

Ursa Minor

Pattern: Bobbi Bear
Yarn: Dale Ara
Needle: US10.5
Modifications: I fudged a bit on lengths since I used a smaller yarn.
