I'm Still Not Ready to Redo the 80s

Yesterday while walking to lunch I passed a young woman wearing a denim mini skirt and white Moon Boots. This must mean that I'm getting really old because the fashions of my junior high school years are being revived yet again. And if the Technica Moon Boots don't do it for you there's always Dolce & Gabbana kids' Shiny Laced Moon Boots for $185! Yes, for children. For $185. Shit, I am old.

That's how I felt when the low-rise, boot cut jeans and scoop-neck tees of the 70s came back. I remember my mom complaining when the 50s styles came back in the 70s -- I didn't understand. Now I get it. It's just the fashion industry's way to reminding us we're OLD. sigh...

I get a twitch whenever I see anyone wearing an off-one-shoulder shirt... and I work on a college campus so I see it a lot. Ack!

When I saw these - http://www.wraplondon.com/fashion-W116-SWATR-SWATR6/cords/pleat-front-cord-trousers.htm - recently, I was shocked that the fashion industry hasn't figured out that heavily pleated, tapered cords are not anyone's friend! Those and the return of buffalo check flannel triggered "Come on Eileen" playing in my head....
