Mitered Crosses

Pattern: Mitered Crosses by Kay Gardiner
Yarn: Rowan Yorkshire Aran Tweed (nearly 10 skeins)for background, handspun Merino for crosses
Needles: US6 and US8
Notes: This is a very entertaining knit. I used the US6 that was suggested in the pattern but went up to US8 for the i-cord edging as the 6 was pulling in. I made a point to knit in my ends as I went, trapping them as I knit so I mainly just had to snip off tails when I was done. I haven't washed and blocked it yet but I really wanted to show it off!

I've got one of these in the works (4 blocks knit out of ... I'm thinking 12). I love watching the progress, slow as it is for me. There's something hypnotic about making the miters and surrounding them with the log cabin part.

Yours is awesome. The handspun makes it even more personal. The neutral background makes the colors stand out that much more.

I like the neutral color background ones that I've seen on Rav, but there are a few people who have gone all dark-bordered, and I think I've seen one in hot pink borders. There's so much variation out there!

It looks fantastic, and your handspun is beautiful! I'm sprinting to the finish line on this one myself -- I promised to donate to our schools' silent auction, but I need to add a whole row and column of squares, since mine is working up at worsted instead of aran gauge (Crystal Palace Mochi Plus). So... I've got 10 out of 18 squares done, and it's due Thursday! Good thing it's fun to knit. Wish me fast knitting!

That turned-out very well and I like it.

I'm a huge fan of knitting the ends in by trapping them in the back, and I do that whenever I can; it just makes life so much easier.
