Hmm...It's easy to overlook since the picture is so dark but I do like the purple cardigan with the leaf lace detail down the sleeves. And the pink cabled poncho with pompoms is pretty cute. I am curious about the tunic top minus the long overcoat, I'd like to see another picture of that. And though I don't like the fit on the feather and fan pullover I do like the buttons down the sleeves.
Gotta be the odd one out, lol! I like it! I see drapey, not boxy. I like the hip length sweaters for the drapey-coverupey-layerey-ness (good language skillz today!), and I love most of the purple section. Some of the sweaters, I might use a lighter weight yarn for, but yeah, I like it overall.
I see one sweater with potential as a weekend sweater, the last in the Easy Knits section, but I don't think I need the pattern to recreate it (it looks like a generic a-line tunic with some YO detailing). The purple lace vest and the dress in the mohair section are both pretty, but totally impractical. The rest of it I could totally live without.
I am not sure how granny squares count as "ever-daring" but if you haven't clicked on the picture to see the back view of that vest, you are really missing out on something fabulous.
I'm digging this issue--except for the granny squares (please, just kill them once and for all), and Easy Knits, Easy Fits section, blech. Love the mohair projects, liking the 80's vibe, and will probably knit something from Lace Noir.
There is one sweater that I like the concept of and the color is ok but I would have to give it my own twist. The layering thing looks kind of homeless style. I'm not that impressed.

Yawn, and the occasional yuck (colorwork tabard thing, I am looking at you).
"Columnar tunic knits" - how flattering. Oy.
I would give it about 95% "meh" with one or two good concepts, given a bit of tweaking.
Enough with the granny square 1970s, and well as the oversized 1980s.
Oddly, my word verification is boxyimo (boxy in my opinion), which sums up much of the issue.

I like the plum colored cardigan in Lace Noir, but otherwise, blech.
So capelet = rectangle?
Huh.
Mohair dress might be high fashion, but plan on standing all the time.
And having grown up with granny-square vests, I just can't take them seriously as even low fashion. They just scream "beer can hat" to me.
